Mary Gauthier interview recorded on 5/20/2010

Jason Wilber with Mary Gauthier

We had a great treat interviewing Mary Gauthier (pronounced “GoShay”) at her home in Nashville, Tennessee on May 20th, 2010. Some of you might remember that the whole city of Nashville was devastated by floods right around that time. Mary was lucky to have barely missed the high water, as there was a creek right across the street from her driveway. Fortunately her house was on a bit of a hill, though some of her neighbors weren’t so fortunate. She was helping some of them out, by offering her garage to store some items that had been saved from the flooded homes down her street.

We arrived and she welcomed us in, and we set up right in her living room with our microphones, and recording gear. In addition to an insightful interview, we got to hear an impromptu concert from her couch, with  violinist Tania Elizabeth.  Mary’s music was fabulous, and Tania provided incredible vocals, and added great depth with her wonderful, very unique 5 string violin style. It was great to sit there, and listen so up close and personal!

If you ever get the chance to see Mary Gauthier in concert, you’re in for a rare treat!
