John Prine interview recorded in 2007

John Prine

Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Jason Wilber has played lead guitar with  John Prine for 14 years, along with bass player Dave Jacques.

This extraordinary intimate interview was recorded by Jason in John’s kitchen at his house in Nashville, Tennessee in 2007. We have featured it a few times on our local broadcast, but are now extremely excited to bring it to you through the Public Radio Exchange (PRX). John talks about his early life and family, as well as his influences. It’s a great interview with cool anecdotes such as him telling about the first records he bought when he was a kid, to “rubbing” his brothers records to scratch them, and putting them back in the sleeves… only to come clean on a “fishing trip” years later. It’s a fascinating look into Mr. Prine’s life, and works of music, as well as some fantastic insight into his personal style of songwriting. This is only part one of three hour long shows, so keep tuned for upcoming episodes on IN SEARCH OF A SONG!
